Foodnet Dietitians Honored by American Dietetic AssociationLocal women receive national recognition for their work in nutritionOctober 16, 2003 -- Eleanor A Carey, RD and Susan H Merrill,
RD are being honored by the American Dietetic
Association for their contributions to the profession of dietetics. Carey
and Merrill will be recognized for 50 years of continuous membership at the
opening session of the 86th Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo in
San Antonio, Texas on October 25th. Susan Merrill served as Foodnet's
Registered Dietitian for 10 years, and Eleanor Carey served on the Foodnet Board
of Directors as chair of the Program, Education and Personnel Committee. Both
are well known for their many community services and continue to serve the
Foodnet senior nutrition program in Tompkins County as volunteers. Allison Parker, a Graduate Dietetic Intern at Cornell University, is currently completing the community nutrition portion of her internship at Foodnet. Parker has been awarded the LTC Eleanor L. Mitchell Memorial Scholarship by the American Dietetic Association Foundation. Parker received the Outstanding Dietetics Student Award for 2003 for her achievements at Drexel University, Didactic Program in Dietetics. Parker's mentor during the community nutrition rotation is Carolyn Arnold, RD.
